"One does not surrender a life in an instant – that which is life long can only be surrendered in a lifetime. I can only surrender to the will of God as I know what that will is. This may take years to know.”

Jim Elliot - Missionary to Ecuador

Bah! Humbug
Friday 09 October 2009 - 23:39:00
I've worn the big dark woolen coat at least 3 times this week. The first couple times I passed off as dressing up for the annual conference at work and possible rain. Today however it was downright cold. 35 degrees. The forecast is for snow tomorrow.

I have this great plan for retiring where it never gets below 80!

Ruthie is in the Army now!
Sunday 10 February 2008 - 17:52:13

Well, she's an Army wife. Following her man where ever he goes and right now that's Fort Gordon Georgia. After 18 hours of driving I got her down here and tomorrow we'll be getting them an apartment.

The picture on the right is where Tim gets to spend most of his time. Actually he's in a 4 man room. I told him he should've joined the Navy! Actually it sounds like he is doing well. He has been given some student leadership positions and is quickly learning his new trade.

I'll spend a couple of days getting her settled (Tim's only allowed off the base for short periods). Then it'll be back home. I think I'll go through the smokey mountains on the way back to check out some cabins for http://www.cabinquest.us. My little site. :O)

What could be so important in Georgia!
Tuesday 30 October 2007 - 00:57:25
Denise and Ruth are on thier way to Georgia. From what I understand there is some guy graduating from Army boot camp and they are going to the graduation. Rumor has it that we may be hearing wedding bells in December! Just pray that Denise is able to pry Ruth away from him at the end of the week when they are supposed to come home.

Oh the precious times
Oh, like the wind the years go by
Precious butterfly
Spread your wings and fly

I couldn't ask God for more
Man, this is what love is
I know I've gotta let her go, but I'll always remember
Every hug in the morning and butterfly kisses at night

Another Trip to Arizona Reservation Ministries
Tuesday 04 April 2006 - 18:48:39

thumb_p1010146.jpg Ruth and I are heading to Arizona Reservation Ministries this summer for a short mission trip. This time I'm taking a group of 15 people down from our church. We have 7 youth and 8 adults going. I believe we are going to be helping on some new property that will serve as ARMs' headquarters or doing a building project on the reservation itself. Either way I'm excited to be going. Last year we had such a good time doing the Vacation Bible School. I hope we get to work with the people of San Carlos some more too.

Spring is here and we're starting to get ready for those summer jobs of mowing and gardening. I've got a planter out front that needs to be worked on. That may be my first project.

New strings sound so good!
Thursday 30 March 2006 - 22:05:55

Nothing can be an easy thing for me. I've had new strings to put on my guitar for months. Something always comes up. I didn't want to change them right before I was going to play for something. I was too busy afterward. Then I wanted to change the weight of the strings, even though I had a set already bought. So then I had to buy some different ones.   But, I never had the checkbook or any cash.

Well, you'll be glad to know that I finally got some money, got some time and changed my strings. I broke one and it was almost too short to string, and I damaged another so I can see exactly where its going to break someday. Now I'm a nervous wreck. I can't stand it knowing that one of the strings may break. I may need to start thinking about changing them some day.
